About the Event
Evergreen Treatment Services’ annual fundraising event series Roots of Recovery is dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey to recovery and building stronger communities in Western Washington. This tradition brings together donors, supporters, and advocates for an evening of storytelling, celebration, advocacy, and change.

Past Events
Since its inception, Roots of Recovery has grown into a celebration of our Participants’ resilience and recovery journeys. Each year, our community has rallied together to raise vital funds for Evergreen Treatment Services and its programs. Here are some highlights from previous events:
2025: Moving Mountains Gala
ETS hosted the inaugural Roots of Recovery gala at the Seattle Convention Center, welcoming over 370 people to celebrate the work of our participants and team who move mountains. Together, we raised a record-breaking $313,902! Our theme, Moving Mountains, was inspired by the incredible steps that our participants often must take on their recovery journey. We learned what moving mountains can look like firsthand as Maria Nevratakis, an ETS participant, and several ETS staff shared their powerful stories with us. 2024: Many Paths to Healing
Last year’s event theme, Many Paths to Healing, featured a personal story of recovery by keynote speaker Sandeep Kaushik, a former patient at ETS. We also released the short film Many Paths to Healing. We welcomed nearly 300 members of our community and raised an incredible $226,265 to enhance our outreach and treatment programs, ensuring access to essential care for more individuals. 2023: Care is Evergreen
Guests joined us in person and virtually for a memorable evening at Bell Harbor, featuring a powerful keynote talk by Desmond Meade, and the release of our short film Cultivating Care. Together, we raised over $271,714 to support our mission. Learn more about the sixth annual event.
2022: Meeting People Where They Are
Our fifth annual Roots of Recovery event featured keynote speaker Kimá Joy Taylor, MD, MPH, health care leader and founder of Anka Consulting. We released our short film Meeting People Where They Are, which takes a look at homelessness in the Greater Seattle area and how REACH meets people where they are to reduce barriers to critical health services. We were proud to raise $198,090!
2021: Healing with Justice
Our fourth annual event highlighted the interconnectedness and importance of showing up for community members, and featured keynote speaker Brian Cladoosby, former chairman of the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community. We also released a short film titled Healing with Justice. Together, we raised over $142,510 to fund critical resources for individuals on the path to recovery. 2020: Roots of Recovery
Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, we hosted a virtual fundraiser with over 600 attendees. Together, we raised $135,589 to support essential services for those in need. Author Maia Szalavitz and REACH’s own Brandie Flood discussed how we can work together to make life better for those who live in the shadow of addiction, racist drug policies, homelessness, and other challenges. 2019: Connecting the Dots
At ETS’s second Roots of Recovery event at the Sheraton in Seattle, we raised $132,165! The theme was Connect the Dots, featuring keynote speaker Dan Satterberg, attorney and politician who served as the prosecuting attorney of King County from 2007-2023. We also heard from Candis, an ETS participant, and watched our short film featuring ETS Participant Lena. Watch her story here.
2018: Inaugural Roots of Recovery
The inaugural Roots of Recovery event laid the foundation for this series and celebrated our organization’s 45 years of service at the Four Seasons Hotel. We raised $119,281 for recovery.
