Don’t Count Us Out

King County launches the online campaign “Don’t Count Us Out” which aims to reduce the stigma around substance use disorder (SUD).

Across the United States, substance use remains stigmatized and limits the number of people who seek treatment for substance use disorder (SUD). The way we speak about SUD can be the difference between whether someone seeks help or not. That’s why King County launched the “Don’t Count Us Out” campaign to change the stigma around SUD. People can and do recover.

People seeking treatment for SUD deserve caring and compassionate treatment without shame impeding their recovery. Yet, 90% of people with a substance use disorder don’t seek treatment because of fear or judgement.

Evergreen Treatment Services believes recovery is possible for everyone. It begins by destigmatizing substance use disorders and treatment, so those who want support are empowered to seek effective treatment that meets their needs.

Be a part of the change. Don’t count us out!
