ABOUT THE EVENT

Recovery is a lifelong journey that LOOKS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE.

ETS staff know well that the journey matters more than the destination. For more than 50 years, staff have walked alongside our participants who set the pace for their own recovery. Today, the terrain is harder than ever: deadly synthetic opioids, a resurgence of “War on Drugs” rhetoric, and funding pressures across the nonprofit sector threaten to slow the progress we’ve worked hard to make.

That’s why we created Move for Recovery — a community event that celebrates progress that is multifaceted, includes powerful sharing, and supports recovery in all its forms. Whether you walk, run, hike, bike, roll, or cheer from the sidelines, every movement represents the reality that recovery is possible.

Join the ETS community on Saturday, Sept. 12 at Seattle’s Seward Park as we move together in recognition of September’s National Recovery Month and to honor people in recovery!

Join Us at Seward Park

Seward Park is a 300-acre park on a Peninsula in Seattle’s Lake Washington. This park has mountain views, and an Audubon Center. Seward Park features the only old growth forest within city limits with trees over 250 years old.

Meet us at Picnic Shelter #1 beginning at 10 a.m. Participants can choose the activity that best fits their interests and ability, including:

Relaxing, cheering on participants, or connecting with the ETS community

A paved 2.4-mile loop around the park (approximately 32 ft of elevation gain)

Forest trails with more moderate inclines beneath towering old-growth trees

Family-friendly spaces including a playground, beaches, and picnic areas

Where do I park?

The parking lots at Seward Park can get full. There will be ETS Move for Recovery signage, and there will be other organizations and individuals hosting events on that day in the park so make sure to look for us at shelter #1 on the south side of the park by the children’s playground, roundabout, and water’s edge.

Anything you’d normally bring to an outdoor event: water, hat, sunscreen, rain gear, any outdoor activities you may want to partake in (e.g., frisbees), comfortable shoes, completed waivers.
