Since 1996, ETS case
workers have been been providing intensive case
management services to homeless chronic public
inebriates in downtown
Seattle. Funded by the
Seattle-King County Public Health Department's Health
Care for the Homeless Network, the
"REACH" project employs 8 case managers, each
carrying an active caseload of 20 individuals.
Emphasis is placed on working with clients of the city's
Dutch Shisler Sobering Support Center.
During the past 6 years, the REACH team has provided
assistance to several hundred members of this vulnerable
population. Emphasis is placed on addressing needs
for medical care, stable housing, income support,
addiction treatment, and developing self-sufficiency
capabilities.
